Watched this last night-great flick, touches on some key concepts of existentialism too. Quite the mind fuck really. Shows you how incredibly stupid human beings are and how incredibly smart some animals are. Also makes you wonder why where we born humans? Why were we not born to be “a horse, or a beetle, or a bald eagle” Makes you think about how some people are better then others but are they really? Or is that all just a built up perception or stereotype, or both that we have built over the past few centuries? Everyone is different and therefore talented in different areas, the classic example they use in this movie is the athlete which is very true where I live in this small-minded hockey consumed town. These kids are no better then anyone else, even though many people seem to think they are and many of them indeed think they are as well. I guess what I’m trying to say here is that it seems like a lot of society strives to be this one perfect being, including myself, but I think by doing this we lose ourselves completely and who we used to be, we become more obsessed with pleasing the general public and friends and family then ourselves and our souls, essentially.
